TABUKA is proud of our book, 'The TABUKA-book', published 24th February 2005 on the publishing house "Børn og unge". It's not available in English, but if we get enough requests it might be possible!

The book is a thorough description of the life as a placed child with the experiences of a social system with a lot of weak spots, but a lot of potential. We try to conclude what needs to be done to make the system work - and what is important not to do!

The empirical method is original. It involves 39 former out-of-home placed children who are now adults. They have made interviews in focus groups and collected knowledge of their own lives in a thorough way. Afterwards this data has been in-depth analyzed. All conclusions or tendencies written about is consistently supported by qoutes from the participants.

We hope that this book will become - if not a 'bible' then - a book which all relevant educations will use to gain knowledge and understanding of the consequenses of good and bad traditions in placement of children.

The book has been funded by the Danish Ministry of Social Affairs who has always supported our work.
